’Statue of Anonymous’, Chronicler of the Early Middle Centuries. Anonymus was one of Hungary’s most important writers. The Latin name of Anonymus means unknown because his name is still a secret. Anonymus Magister’s (writer’s) main work is the Gesta Hungarorum written in Latin, an early manuscript (book) of Hungarian History, dating back to the 12th century. Although the most accepted theory is that he was the chancellor of King Bela III of Hungary or the king himself, this is not proven. The figure is holding a pen in his right hand and his head is covered by hood (symbolising that he is a writer but his face/name is unknown). The bronze statue is located in the court of Vajdahunyad Castle (see the previous photo…) in the City Park of capital Budapest, Hungary,Europe.

We saw this figure whilst visiting and could not help notice that the people kept wanting to touch or hold pen/quill, I assume this is meant to be lucky or something.

    Nice work again Zoltan
