Caterpillar

Once upon a time, there was a caterpillar that longed to turn into a butterfly. But she couldn’t break out of her cocoon because she was afraid that she wouldn’t be able to survive as a butterfly. She thought about it, but she couldn’t decide whether it was better to live a long life as a miserable caterpillar, or live happy and free, flying from flower to flower in the warm sunshine of spring as a beautiful Monarch. She died broken hearted while clinging to a tree branch.

The moral of the story: That which we cling to enslaves us.

    perhaps that is me,
I’ve a broken heart but actually, I still seem to fly from time to time….

one can live with a broken heart :)

love the imagery and the moral xxx

  • To my mind, you are a butterfly Lisa. Broken heart? I’m sorry to hear that. You know where to find me should you need an ear, an arm, or a leg. As always, thanks Lisa for the kind words! xxx

Oh this has really touched my heart, which too has been broken,,sad ending but a very strong message:)

  • Another broken heart? We need to start a club “The Broken Hearts Club.” Sorry to hear that and sadly, a sad story will offer no comfort. But thanks for reading and commenting as well. ((Hugs))

The imagery is sublime here Robert…..I am a clinger sometimes…..I hold on till the flesh peels off…… But I do mend and my flight may be not as smooth but I do fly.
I do agree that what is not held to us freely is really not ours… :O)))
I would love an image to go with this.. xxx

  • Thank you karensue! We all cling to things we need, or think we need. It’s human nature. We have to train ourselves not to cling but it’s a process. And by the way, you fly quite well and you always take passengers too. xxx
