“In spite of all the refinements of society that conspired to make art – the dizzying perfection of the string quartet or the sprawling grandeur of Fragonard’s canvases – beauty was savage. It was as dangerous and lawless as the earth had been eons before man had one single coherent thought in his head or wrote codes of conduct on tablets of clay.” —Anne Rice
This is by far my most popular piece on my other gallery, so I just about smacked myself just now, realizing that I don’t have it posted here. Rectification is in order.
Here are the original artist notes:
I’m still trying to determine whether the fact that I’m having to force myself into creating new work shows in the end results. This one was more than a little work—approximately 6 hours from start to finish, although some of that time can be blamed upon the fractal symposium chat this evening, as I was flipping back and forth. If the small render is any indication, though, it’s going to take approximately 33 hours to render a large version of this for the prints shop, so I won’t be starting that render until Monday or Tuesday.
