The Enchanting Solarium at Ringwood Manor by

Ringwood, NJ

My dream is to someday own a home with a solarium. To me that is the closest thing to heaven in a home. To have all those windows and see the outside sun streaming in, and see all the trees and lawns and gardens. The 18th and 19th century manor owners had it right – just gorgeous. When I visit historic homes I always run to the solarium to get photos first. This solarium at Ringwood Manor is one of my favorites.

Lovely image and idea! If I ever get back to Winterthur I’ll have to check to see if it’s possible to see their solarium from the outside. Inside, there was a crowd, and all I got were closeups. Have you ever been to Winterthur?

  • sorry Jade – never saw this message. no I never have been to Winterthur. what is that – gotta go out on the web and see now…. Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library is an American estate and museum in Winterthur, Delaware. As of 2011 it houses one of the most important collections of Americana in the United States of America. It was the former home of Henry Francis du Pont (1880–1969), a renowned antiques collector and horticulturist. Until recently, it was known as the “Henry Francis DuPont Winterthur Museum”. OOOHHHH- now that I know I will have to go – maybe this summer…..
