Beyond The Door by Jane Neill-Hancock

This photo won 7th place in the WebShots Creative Challenge Haunting Halloween in 2010
won first place in Photography in the Focus on New Jersey Call for Artists exhibition at the Arts Center of Northern NJ, November 2011

This photo was taken in 2006 or 2007. I took it looking into the base of the Lambert Castle Lookout Tower that is on the top of Garrett Mountain Reservation. At the time the tower was in a great state of disrepair and decay. I held my camera up to the crack in the door and positioned it so I could see across to the other door. I tried to capture what was inside and was happy at the results. It is haunting – scary and sad.

Beyond the Door can be whatever you want it to be – something scary is right beyond the door, alien light is beyond the door, hope and promise is behind the door – whatever you want it to be.

My name is Jane. I am an artist, writer, photographer, and an admirer of the arts. Here on RB I share my photography, writing, collages and art, and host many groups. I hope you enjoy my work.
