Below is my story:
(Image was drawn to convey the fear of being trapped – hopefully I captured that feeling.)

I wake up and feel groggy, and realize my arms are pinned to my sides and I am in some kind of tube, like an MRI tube. I look above me and see pink and peach colored mesh that is a plastic type seal above me. I slowly bring my right hand up across my chest, then my neck, so I can reach up and touch the shell above me. It has a soft mushy feel like gummy bears, and I wonder, “Am I sleeping? Is this a dream?” I hear a humming and banging begins, that does also resemble an MRI sound, and then I feel myself falling backward; that sensation you get when you are ready to black out.

The alarm rings, and I reach over to hit the snooze button. I realize my hand and fingers ache as I hit the clock, and my ribs are aching as I roll over. And I have a sharp pain in my right foot. I feel very ill, and I know there is no way I can go to work. I reach for phone and call in sick and fall back to sleep for another 4 hours.

The sore on my foot looks like a spider bite with red radiating out from the center. My foot itself is a bit swollen. When I wear a shoe it really hurts, and on and off it is bleeding. After 2 months it is not healed and looks worse than I first noticed it. I call the foot doctor for an appointment.

The foot doctor of course asks what happened, and I stammer when I have to tell him I have no idea. I tell him maybe it is a spider bite, because I work in the yard and I wear my sandals, so maybe I was bitten then. He says he will clean it and examine it closer. He gives me Novocain and begins his procedure of cleaning. He then announces there is something inside the wound, and gives me more Novocain. He uses tweezers and pulls out a ¾ inch tube of greyish peach material and puts it in a bag for biopsy analysis.

After the biopsy my foot hurts worse than before. It looks now like I have a bullet hole in my foot. The foot doctor calls with the biopsy results and tells me that the wound is an ulcer, but that the foreign body removed from my foot cannot be analyzed and that the lab does not recognize the material content of the sample.

I often wake up in the night and am unsure what woke me. In my sleeping memory I remember banging on the back door, or banging under the window, but wonder if it actually was the cats jumping around the house. The cats seem to be more restless at night over the past year and do not sleep quietly like they used to.

I awaken in the middle of the night again, and it is pitch black around me. I have night lights in the house so at first I wonder if the electricity has gone off. I am very cold. I go to reach for my electric blanket and find I cannot move my hands because they are strapped down to boards on either side of me. It reminds me of the position I am in when preparing for surgery. Suddenly a light goes on above me and almost blinds me, and I hear whispering and muttering around me, and I again feel as if I am falling backward and begin to black out.

Months have gone by and the wound on my foot is healing very slowly. Now there appears to be a dark almost black scab inside the bull’s eye of the hole. The foot doctor has been cleaning it every few months and I am due for another cleaning. I go to his office and he gives me the usual Novocain to being the cleaning. He then announces that there is something like black plastic inside the hole and begins to pick it out and put it into a biopsy bag. He asks me how plastic got in the hole. I have no idea of course. I have been putting antibiotic cream on it and covering it with a bandage every day, so there is no way I can think of that black plastic would get into it.

The doctor calls me with the results of the biopsy and says that it was again a material that the lab does not recognize, and it had some kind of electronic pieces in it, like a transmitter. He says they were going transfer it to another lab that they thought would have better equipment to analyze the sample, and that somehow my foreign body sample has “disappeared”. He says he will be transferring my case to a wound specialist.

I tell my family about the black foreign body that appeared to be black plastic and has some kind of electronic equipment in it, and my daughter says, “Maybe it is an alien probe.” Everyone laughs at her joke, but with all my dreams and all I have gone through, I personally do not laugh and realize that is probably the truth.

Now – what is science fiction? The dream sequences or abduction sequences I made up – the first was how I imagine it would be if abducted and put in some kind of pod. The 2nd dream sequence was based on memories I had from open chest surgery/thymectomy where I was in and out of consciousness during the surgery.

What is truth? the wound on my foot, and what was in it.
