Consumed with Sorrow, I Still Reach Up In Hope by

This old statue is in the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Caldwell NJ where my sister is buried. It may be old and deteriorating but the beauty of the statue is undeniable. I visited today and wanted to get some new views I had never taken before. This closeup grabbed me – her face is so sorrowful yet her arm, which some is gone of course, is reaching to the sky and her eyes are also looking to the heavens. This is what gave me the name of the piece. It is how many of us continue to live each day – we have had sorrows, disappointments and grieve in our hearts, but because of our faith we continue to reach up and look to the heavens in hope for something better.

I will be posting more views of this statue – her stance, her beautiful hair from the back, just to give views as to the beauty of this old statue. I wish we could see what it looked like when it was new, and it is said that it is subjected to the elements and will continue to deteriorate.

Here is a photo and link to original photo of the back of her hair – gorgeous

full view of the statue I have posted next and here is small view of it.
