The tide, the tide by Lee Pike

The tide, the tide by

I did this painting after a long creative drought.

I was a little bit inspired by Rothko but I just wanted to paint with red and white. I really enjoyed building up the texture for this one. There is also some glitter in it which adds an unexpected twist into the medium. Glitter is pretty much a crime of painting but like all things that are that bad, sometimes you just can’t help but enjoy them.

I love Rothko’s work and so does Brian Eno, the master of minimal music… so I can see your inspiration here! Very nice work!
