My loverly friend Jess (AKA DaiskiAnimeJ) and I, last summer, thought it would be utterly brilliant to combine two adaptations of Hans Christian Andersen’s <i>The Little Mermaid</i> into a glorious crossover of Ariel and Ponyo along with all her little sisters. Disclaimer: We give no apology for our actions.

Of course, the time it took to get together and then complete the concept meant that half of DeviantArt got to this idea before us, but it was highly enjoyable to do and that’s what matters.

Jess came up with the initial concept and sketched it out into this amazing composition and I went over it with colour, texture and painting all 50 of Ponyo’s sisters individually… AND THEN I UNLEASHED THE BUBBLES AND SPARKLES!! :D

This took upwards of 20 hours using Photoshop, a Wacom tablet and default and custom brushes.
