This was requested from my boyfriend, http://dexotter.deviantart.com/, of himself and his best friend fighting an epic battle in Halo 3. The blue player is Dexo1 and the yellow player is JRR Peel on Xbox Live.

I immediately went into this adamant that it would not be detailed, opting instead for this ‘painterly’ and impressionist look using a chalky brush in Photoshop. While it’s not as polished as some of my other work, it actually turned out to be one of the most complicated! ^^; Each player, effect and vehicle is on a separate layer and only the background was done on a single layer. This helped to edit each section as I needed to keep the size of the players consistent etc.

I particularly enjoyed using some bright colours for once and adding some saturation to the Halo world! If anyone is interested in a wallpaper of this, let me know! Enjoy! :)

Based on the “Coagulation” map of Halo 2 and lots of player reference collected from Halo 3 thanks to http://dexotter.deviantart.com/. Whoever designed those suits and vehicles is crazy! XD

Done in roughly 10 hours over 4 days using Photoshop CS4 and a Wacom Intuos3 graphics tablet.
