Ok, well it was also an exercise to get out of a little art block and try something new for a change. I decided to go for unnatural colours instead of a black and white or natural approach to push myself a bit. The textured background was made from downloaded brushes (Destroyed Heraldry and Bombay Paint Splatter) but otherwise it is completely hand painted with reference to a few images of Christian Bale for the likeness and a mirror and my own hand for proportion/anatomy.
