Marriage of the Lamb

Scripture reveals to us that God has chosen those from the world who believe Him and put their trust in Him…The Bride of Christ. He speaks of a coming wedding in which a great celebration will take place and we will rejoice with Him as beloved. It is to be a time of new beginnings and unspeakable joy. It is a time that we look forward to when we are all with Him at the marriage supper.

This cannot be bought nor earned. It is a free gift of God. He paid the price to redeem us from sin and its consequences, death. Because He offers us an invitation to join Him as His bride at this supper, we will be clothed in His righteousness, His grace will prevail and we will be washed white and pure by His sacrifice, His love and devotion to us. We long to be with Him and share this most wonderous of occassions. The term “Bride” or “Wife” is a term of endearment referring to His protective nurturing love for us (male and female).

Mt 25:1: ¶ Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Mt 25:2: And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
Mt 25:3: They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
Mt 25:4: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
Mt 25:5: While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
Mt 25:6: And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Mt 25:7: Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Mt 25:8: And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
Mt 25:9: But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Mt 25:10: And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

Re 19:7: Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
Re 19:8: And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
Re 19:9: And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

I was working with a combination of an image I got several years ago from a newspaper story about the shroud of Turin. The original image was very poor and I had to recreate the face using the newspaper image as a model. Then I worked with I worked with Micrografx, Photoshop, Photomatrix and Apophysis to create the finished work. I experimented a little and got several works that I really like. I hope you enjoy them.

Although we do not know what Christ really looked like because the Hebrew people did not draw or paint images of anyone because it was against their religion, we do have ideas we have formed based upon legend and theories that have been passed down through time and have become a generally accepted image that comes to mind when we think of Christ.

This series is inspired by scripture from the Holy Bible. This is the ninth in the series of nine.
