This image came about as the result of following a Topaz tutorial by Barbara Motter called ‘The Ugly Duckling Workflow’. Basically about using Topaz DeNoise to deal with the grain when using a high ISO value. And how to use Topaz Clarity and Lens Effects to improve the photograph. I found it very helpful in furthering my skills with post processing an image. I don’t have the Topaz Clarity plug-in, so I made use of the clarity filter in the Topaz Adjust 5 plug-in instead.

There was actually only one cormorant and he was quite a distance away, but cropping and clean edit in Light Room, exporting to Photoshop cs5, the use of Topaz Filters, DeNoise, Adjust 5 and Lens Effects, then making a mirror image and blending it have produced a creditable image.
