A close up view of flowers in a handing basket on our front porch. One thing of interest is that there is a plastic dollar store lizard sitting in the middle of the basket (not pictured). Why? Doves. Mourning doves in particular. We had some nest in a hanging basket last year in the same spot, and we wouldn’t get rid of them as they had already lain their eggs.
We were slightly more proactive this year after we stopped the first few dove nesting attempts. We are not really sure if the doves are afraid of the lizard (since we don’t have lizards here) or if it’s just because the toy takes up the nesting space. Either way, it’s working, and it’s mostly hidden from view.
