A ranga's rescue
There once was a ranga, locked in a cage
She thought she’d be there all weekend,
‘til someone came to rescue her,
’Oh thankyou, my good friend!’
So how did the ranga get locked in the cage?
‘tis rather simple, you see
Someone did lock all the gates
And she doesn’t have a key
‘Ok, so I’ll spend the weekend here.
That would not be so nice
especially once it goes dark,
There could be vermin and mice
‘Help! I’m in here! somebody……
My family will know I’m late
I tried calling out, really, I did,
But they just shut the gate’
The ranga then stalked up and down,
‘Does anyone know I’m still here?
For heavens sake, this is too much.
Someone should go ‘oh dear!’ ’
’twas through fate she was discovered,
And subsequently rescued,
Because of a parent,
At the school for an interview
’There’s somebody stuck’ she said
When she came to see us,
‘They are jumping up and down,
Making lots of fuss’
So Wael then went outside,
To see what the fuss might be,
And there he saw Aylssa,
Who said ’Remember me?
I blame you for this, you know –
You told me to send an email…..
But the computer took too long,
Then I was locked up in the jail.
I couldn’t call anybody for help,
‘Cause I didn’t have my phone,
With the two kids sick today,
I left it at home.
Eventually Mick would’ve scratched his head,
And wondered ‘where is she?’
If only I was telepathic……
I’ve been here since half past three!’

NO no the thing that got me was that MY family didn’t react when I told them about it when I got home but when they came to see why I was in hysterics and read this they all exploded in laughter cos it must have been true!!!!

I was not grinning during your rescue – I wondered if it was you as you hadn’t come to the library to talk to me like you usually did before leaving, then when Wael opened the door, I heard your voice. Michaela asked ‘who is it?’ and i told her it was you, I could hear your voice from the corridor!
And I’m taking it to show Grant today. I’m expecting him to have a good laugh.

AT some point in our working lives at this school, most of us have established a reputation of some sort – this is obviously Alyssa’s. But only she could manage to do it in her second week! she’d mentioned the phrase ‘locked in a cage’ at least 10 times by the time she dropped me home, then said ’you’re going to write a poem about this, aren’t you?’
I said ‘now that you’ve mentioned it several times, yes. I get ideas.’
