I'm A Complicated Drive

Now you’ve had a taste of me, you want me for your lunch.
But I think you need know more of me before you start to munch.
You’ve entered my amusement park and you think you’d like to ride,
But I know more about me see, I know what lies inside.
You need to know contained in me is a building, burning tide.
I won’t be an easy girl for you, I’m a complicated drive.
I’ll beg, I’ll plead, I draw you deep and then I’ll throw you out.
I’ll let you step inside my house today, tomorrows sign “KEEP OUT!”
I’m up, I’m down, I’m in, I’m out, I’m somewhere in between.
Right now I make you sweat and writhe, later I’ll make you scream.
I will shun you, shove you, throw you down and tell you just to leave.
The door will shut and on my knees I’ll implore you not to go.
I’ll tell you please come close to me, and then I’ll start to cry.
You want to be the one I need, but my needs change on the fly.
For me to open up to you and trust in us is what you’re hoping for.
But know to win you’ll pay for sins of those who came before.
This heart has bled; these eyes have shed at least a million tears.
I won’t say so but please don’t go, stay and calm my fears.
You say you’ll dwell with me in this thing I refuse to tag as love.
But I’ve heard that line so many times, my heart has given up.
So if you kiss my cheek and I respond loudly with a slap,
Please hold me tight and resist my fight and please don’t slap me back.
Now you’ve read my words, and know me more I have one last request.
Before I stray too far too fast, pull me hard into your arms and say
You love me best.
