The Goddess In Me: Athena’s Strong Song
I have been a damsel in distress
Gentle face, hair blowing in the wind
I grew impatient, tired of watching over the bend
For my white knight to ride in
So I bent down and picked myself up by my own laces
I found it is my own strength that I trust best
I have been to battle with the night
Watched as armored men surrounded me and mine
I listened for the Calvary but no hooves could I hear
No allies, no friends, no one to watch my back
I closed my eyes and on a whisper and a prayer
I drew my sword and fought a mighty fight
And it was only I who remained standing in the morning light
With a knight’s bravery and a warriors heart
I stand tall, I stand alone, and I stand apart
But inside beats the heart of a damsel
I wait for no man but I still need my knight
I can fight any battle but still in the dark
I need to hear you love me and will protect my heart

Wonderful words Amanda. Very passionate topic for me this one. I so beleive in the spiritual power of women but believe many have been beaten down by being bluffed by the material world of possession and control. Love that you have gone inside for your strength. I beleive that every person has all they need inside. However once we are secure relationship is such a beautiful icing on the cake.
