Speckled Warbler taken at Ulan NSW by

A beautiful bird becoming extremely endangered in NSW. I have a location where they are still easy to find but mining is fast heading their way.

A gorgeous capture Alwyn… I’ve seen some over this way too, and incredibly shy bird.

  • Thanks Phil. Yes they can be shy. I think this one had a nest near by as it was returning with insects although not on this occasion. Gave me a great opportunity for some shots. I did not look for the nest as I did not want to disturb it.

Excellent capture Alwyn. They are rare in Victoria also. I have not seen any for a very long time. They have such a delightful song too.

  • Thanks Kerryn, yes these seem to be really affected by clearing and stock running on the land. I have only seen them in large areas of untouched natural bushland. Hope that they survive.

Spectacular shot! I remember tracking down one of these guys along the Snowy River a few years back. Never had a chance for a shot like this though. Wonderful little birds, its a shame they have become so rare. Well done!

  • Many thanks Bruce. Yes they are a beautiful little bird. I hope that they make a comeback.
