Helmeted Friabird taken at Mt Ossa near Mackay in NQby Alwyn Simple
Bird or Dinosaur?? – A large Tropical friabird with naked skin around the face and a knob on the top of it bill. It is also a Honeyeater and lives in tropical North Queensland and the Darwin area.
You are right Alwyn – this is a real throw back to the dinosaurs, LOL!! But it shows how successful the species is and how it has not needed to change…. it’s perfect for it’s environment.
Thanks for the comments and support Barbie. Yes a strange but still beautiful (If not unusual) bird. All the best for 2012.
