Picininny Creek is the watercourse that runs through the dome section of the Bungle Bungles in Purnululu National Park. It is on the Eastern side of the Kimberlies in Western Australia. This photo was taken at daylight at one of the pools along the creek. Normally the creek is dry but due to the extended wet season this year, 2011, waterholes remain in the creek giving photographers a rare opportunity to capture the reflections in these pools. In wet season, roads into the park are closed and the only access is by air. These roads remain closed until the end of the wet season or can be extended as was the case this year until they have dried out and are safe to travel again. We had to fly into the park due to road access limitations where normally the roads would have been open.
The towering rocky domes of the Bungle Bungle Range in Purnululu National Park have enchanted people with their majestic beauty since the beginning of time.
The beehive domes and rocks of the Bungle Bungle change colour as the sun progresses across the sky, from brown to red, orange and gold.

Absolutely stunning. This would be such a good year to visit the Kimberleys.
Many thanks for your comments o/b writer. Yes the Kimberlies are wonderful at the moment. Some roads have just been opened and there is still water in areas that are normally dry at this stage.

How you capture this scenery is AMAZING. Perfect colour, reflection. & time of day…. Again Amazing!!
Many thanks again Anita, it is easy when we have such a splendid subject to photograph. You are right, the time of day is probably the most important thing with photography. Once there are shadows and the soft light is no longer there it is time to put the camera away.
