This painting is an expression of gratitude for a dear friend named Adrienne Davis. I was looking through a creative journal I have where I keep things people have given me that either inspired me or encouraged me to stay the course. When I first left Engineering to become an HR Business Partner at Ford Mo Co… when I started writing again and coaching people to embrace their best selves (receiving much recognition for my work), Adrienne sent me a card with the following message:
“Shine on my sister! Yes, Angela, you are in a place that, as Les Brown says, you are unstoppable! Yes, with our Lord by your side, above your head, and around your back, KNOW THAT HE IS PAVING THE WAY TOWARD UNSPEAKABLE SUCCESS!!!”
Adrienne has ALWAYS encouraged me (and especially, Josh) to use creativity to fulfill my purpose in life… Wow! To think someone had that much faith and confidence in my abilities when I was struggling to believe in them for myself… Les Brown used to also say, “Sometimes you have to cling to someone else’s belief in YOU until your own belief kicks in!”
Thank you so much, Adrienne! I don’t tell you nearly enough how much your friendship over the years has meant to me! God bless you, my sistah!
This is a mixed media painting made with layers of scrap paper, gesso, Intense pencils, glitter, acrylic, and ink on 9″ × 12″ Canson heavyweight watercolor paper.
