This year I hope to be sitting next to my FAA artist “sistah”, Linda Kemp, and celebrating the 4th of July by sipping coffee/tea, sharing stories, and creating lively works of art! Here’s to a Happy 4th of July!

I have this rather unusual calendar that shows three months at a time… so when I changed all the sheets to welcome in the exciting month of June, I decided to gesso the old sheets and play a while like I did on my birthday this year! This piece is about half of the final painting (which will be used to make my 2012 flag books).

This painting was made with fluid and heavy body acrylics, Adirondack Color Wash, and ink on a recycled calendar pages.

I’m an abstract-expressionist painter… a mixed media, encaustic, collage artist who uses a non-objective, emotive style of creative expression and visual messaging. I create to survive, to LIVE with more JOY and less pain. ART (plus faith in God) is what sustains me.

Sounds like a lovely fourth coming up for you. I love July, independence and fireworks. Truly a fun and bright time as your work here has accomplished so well.

  • Thanks so much, Donna! I’m very excited… this is such a fun time of year! The first really FUN time I’ve had since I lost my sun. Seriously! My spirits are in such a good place right now… much of that goodness is the Grace of GOD allowing me to have such beautiful friendships through the sharing of ART here and on FAA. I am very grateful! Hugs!
