Inspired by a poem I wrote a while back:
The day we met
we liked each other.
I became your friend,
you became mine…
We shared many good times together
and created a bond to endure time.
When I revealed my heart to you,
you exchanged comfort for the pain I felt.
When I reached for a hand to hold,
yours grasped mine; gave it strength.
When my face could do nothing but frown,
we exchanged words that made me smile.
And emptiness would have devoured me
had you not come to care…
In retrospect, no one could compare!
And when the time came
For me to return the kindness
you so willingly rendered…
when I grasped for your hand,
the friendship I offered
was accepted ~
