OK… I’m back to painting full scale works and decided to practice a bit doodling with my brushes, fingers, household items (anything I could find to make print marks), and bottle tips. Just in case I needed more practice than I imagined, I decided to use walnut ink, alcohol ink and acrylic before dipping back into my more expensive stash of paints. This was just plain ole FUN! My son (in spirit) and I had a mighty fine time today! The session left me smiling…
Walnut ink, alcohol ink and acrylic on Strathmore Heavyweight watercolor paper.
Thanks, Tori. I just finished the piece… but I’m too tired to scan it tonight. My challenge is that the full painting is actually 18″×24″ and I can’t seem to photograph it well enough to upload so I’m stuck scanning it in pieces. Fiddlesticks! :)
Much better today… it was FUN today! Albeit very painful physically… my back is KILLING me! I’m going to bed early (midnight is actually early for this old girl)… been on my feet all day and I am really paying for it. Thanks so much for checking in…
love your experimenting and thanks for tip on Alcohol ink – haven’t heard of it before
I love the stuff! There’s a nice You-tube demo that really gave me some idea on different ways to use this ink…. it’s really good for mixed media artists… helps create texture. Video
‘Funny’ maybe, but I STILL don’t know what it IS….. as in: have never heard of it. ;O LOL
OK… well now, my dear girlfriend and sistah girl, you have both a link to the fact sheet on these wonderful inks and a cute video to watch on ways to use them with acrylic paint! Yea! :)
