Once upon a snowy night
I reached for you to hold me tight…
We gazed outside to see the glow
of tiny snowflakes falling slow…
and I was happy just to know
you and I were happy.

This is a mixed media painting made with tissue, watercolor, wax pastels, acrylic, and ink on gessoed wood cradle.

I’m an abstract-expressionist painter… a mixed media, encaustic, collage artist who uses a non-objective, emotive style of creative expression and visual messaging. I create to survive, to LIVE with more JOY and less pain. ART (plus faith in God) is what sustains me.

You ahve really captured a snowy night – brings back memories for me – Angela. how big is the piece?

  • Thanks so much, Karen!

Not being a very good photographer, I usually scan a lot of the work I upload because I want to present my work with the best and highest resolution; that way the textures have depth… since I do that, I’m also limited in size of my pieces. I tell you all this to say, this piece is much larger than what is shown here, and far more detailed. The original cradle is 24×24 and the full piece is called Winter Bliss . So Once Upon A Snowy Night is just a small corner of the original piece. :)
