It was inspired by a poem my partner wrote called Out of the Cosmic Rain:

Rain…
it is coming…
it is almost here.
We can see it in the distance,
rapidly approaching:
relentlessly,
irresistibly,
nurturing and purifying
everything that it touches.
Here it comes… the rain…
The Cosmic Rain.
We await its arrival
and let the advancing droplets
bounce off our bodies,
delighting in its touch.
And then
before we are drenched
I lead you
hurriedly,
protectively,
to a haven,
a safe place
from where we can watch
this single act in God’s Grand Design
A place where I can shield you,
protect you,
envelope you,
bathe you with my love,
and keep you safe;
out of the downpour…
out of the Cosmic Rain.

Poem by Isiah C. White (used with permission)

This mixed media collage was made using painted freezer paper, Canson 140# CP watercolor paper, acrylic, wax pastels, and ink.

I’m an abstract-expressionist painter… a mixed media, encaustic, collage artist who uses a non-objective, emotive style of creative expression and visual messaging. I create to survive, to LIVE with more JOY and less pain. ART (plus faith in God) is what sustains me.

Angela, I love the vibrancy of your work! I also love the poem that acompanies the collage -it complements it so well and makes me feel protected from the “rain” just by reading it. Good job to both artists!
