This is one page of a two-page spread in my idea journal…

I was just playing around and feeling good when I did these pages. They were intended as a test palette… more my ideas for a full-scale painting than stand alone art.

This collage/painting is made from recycled materials, acrylic, gelatos, alcohol ink. watercolor, and india ink on multi-media 98lb paper

women, humming birds, journal art, creative, birds, angels, quotes, words, special friends, friend, friendship, reflections, woman, trust, understanding, vibrant, abstract, african american art, sunny day, religion, religious, summer, color, colorful, art therapy, grief therapy, survivor, creativity, inspiration, divine wisdom, messages, faith, angel, landscape, flowers, art journal

I’m an abstract-expressionist painter… a mixed media, encaustic, collage artist who uses a non-objective, emotive style of creative expression and visual messaging. I create to survive, to LIVE with more JOY and less pain. ART (plus faith in God) is what sustains me.

Like it: especially the entire Right side! BTW, last night I heard on NPR a scientist say there is quite a concern for the Hummingbird’s life on planet earth; has to do with Global Warming in that all the flowers from which they get nectar, have bloomed a few wks. before they have migrated. He said they Need that nectar to survive, so it is Most important that we put out & keep filled our feeders; that they have great memory & will buzz around you/their Past Habitat, looking & waiting.

  • How interesting! I hadn’t heard that… I just love them! :-)

I really love this one. Your new works are brilliant! And joyful. :o)

  • Thanks so much, Bunny

I think it’s all the different media together on one page that makes the difference here. For example, alcohol ink has a transparent glow unto itself so no matter where you use it, its color is clear and vibrant… then when you use acrylic and watercolor for the base and build upon it with layers of alcohol ink, india ink, and gelatos, the results are quite unusual, even in person.

Wow! Gorgeous!!!! Awesome palette and design!

  • Thanks so very much, Angie… I tried to explain to Bunny why I think this piece turned out like it did… I tried mixing a lot of different media on one page and the results are/were quite interesting. So glad you like this one… it’s one of my favorites too. :-)
