‘Surrender’ can be thought of as the complete acceptance of what is.¹ By this definition, it isn’t brought about by a state of hopelessness, but rather by a state of grace. Jesus accepted crucifixion as the conclusion to his spiritual quest on earth.
Sympathetic stigmata are said to occur rarely; a result of the deepest empathy with his acceptance.
