Was on the freeway heading home from a trip to the Griffith Observatory about a month ago (July, 2009). We passed this fire about an hour after it started. Firefighters had just arrived minutes before we passed. The traffic was slow, allowing me to get the shots, and we could SEE the fire spreading.
The freeway was closed mere minutes after we passed! The fire threatened homes on the other side of the hill, but Firefighters worked their miracles and had the fire out within 24 hours. No homes were damaged, nobody was hurt.
This is fire-season in Southern California. There are several burning out of control as I write this (29 August, 2009), and all hopes and prayers are with the brave Firefighters working hard to extinguish fires before anyone gets hurt or any property is damaged.
Shot through tinted windows on a tour-bus, so no CP filtration.
minor adjustment to contrast.
