How many tears did we both cry
That fateful night
When the world turned upside down?
And how long did the spirits
Of Sorrow and Regret linger there
Before Misery came along
And decided that she loves company?
Oh, detachment sure was prevalent
Albeit horribly irrelevant
For it evanesced about as quickly
As our attempts to hinder intimacy
So, could this really be our last embrace?
My darling, my love,
I had always dreamed that
This would last hereinabove.
Now pardon me for saying,
Stuttering and mumbling,
Rambling, meandering,
But, all I want is you.
Look into my eyes
And you’ll see right through,
Nothing in the entire world
Could be more true.
But I know
That we can’t be together
Perhaps
It’s all for the better
So I’ll hold you in my arms
As we sit and stare at the clock.
It goes tick, tock,
Tick, tock.
Geez, you’d think we’d have broken up or something.
We were just never really good at saying goodbye.

Haha thank you so much friend. I’m glad you enjoyed this. Just so happens to be written about one of the most memorable nights in our history. God bless you.

There are so many things I could say about this… It was quite the night and this poem is almost a bit of a release for me… I think it’s quite interesting how we mused about my sitting across a “desk” from you, and it was almost easy to say the hard things and how the tables turned (there’s a pun for ya) when there was none. Yikes. Big difference. lol
Hahaha. Detachment sure was prevalent alright.. Ahh. Third stanza. Hammer on the nail? We both cave at each other’s pain. We could beat around the bush all day long as to why.. But it’s love.

Thank you so much! This poem was definitely about quite the emotion moment haha. Love is such a curious thing. It makes absolutely no sense yet at the same time, it makes complete sense. God bless you.
