Canadian Bacon

i’ve gotten myself addicted to soda-pop again
and it’s eating up my insides
we all lose our teeth
but some people build houses on t-shirts

it’s only natural
and imagination’s probably my favorite part
“hold on tight”
the childhood value

a storm that blows over
and through some of the saddest songs
you’ll ever sit to listen to and stop to think about

my life’s been one big video game/ school desk
or canadian/ new jersey winters
with california school summers
and hollywood vacations over seas
when we grow up and meet again
and maintain prominent relationships through adventure
for the rest of our slow, short lives

we’re all trying to see the end of a day
or hug tight onto electrical posts in the rain, outside of malls
where customers and employees attend, romance is short lived
and novelty happiness can be purchased
i can hardly stand looking at the photographs i took of myself
alone in the booth around when i was seventeen
and reminiscing and got those multi-colored d.c.’s
