The Other Side

It was my time to leave
And go to The Other Side
I always believed
God was on my side
As I started to walk
I heard birds in the distance
I thought I heard someone talk
I offered no resistence
There was the gentlest breeze
Sweeping in the air
There was little movement in the trees
I knew that God walked there
The walk was so filled with peace
My heart was so filled with joy
All the tribulations of life ceased
My soul felt as it did when I was a little boy
So on I walked and there they stood
Immense Gates of Gold
There stood God beckoning me
Saying you’re no longer old
At this time I could see
My appearance had changed again
And I was suddenly a little boy
Standing with my best friend
The Gates closed and I stood in joy
on THE OTHER SIDE

Glad you like it Lianne , you know what this image is all about? Life and passing away … and this is the way in ” the gate” to the other side .. those few meters before we leave this earth to go back to where we came from.

interesting vision of what could be on the “other side”...the way you treated the photo surely made it seem like something beyond the usual.
This photo and the meaning that you gave to it makes me remember a movie, “The Fountain”. Ever seen it?

In reference to my previous comment (how this image and your words makes me think in the movie “the Fountain”),
this is the plot summary: “The Fountain is an odyssey about a man’s thousand-year struggle to save the woman he loves. In three separate lives—Tomas the conquistador, Tommy the scientist, and Tom the explorer—Thomas is driven to discover the mysteries of life; all three stories converge into one truth as he comes to terms with life, death, love, and rebirth.”
Basically, the theme of the movie is life, death and the different ways of looking at it. Tom is very afraid of losing his wife and she want’s to show him that death is something natural, that he doesn’t have to be afraid (well, it’s more complicated than that, but you have to watch it to fully understand).
The important is your image it’s a great extension of your poem.
