Al, I’ll agree that luck had a bit to do with it since you were lucky your friend dragged you out there. But this is no grab shot, which is confirmed by the quality of your other work… it was your eye that spotted the awesome lighting, the gathering clouds and the amazing composition, and your skill made it possible to capture the scene as you saw it. No surprise this won multiple awards. It is a masterpiece and I’m looking forward to seeing more of your work.

I am truly at a loss for appropriate words to describe how this image affects me. It is one of the most beautiful desert scenes I have ever seen. I believe it would be impossible to improve on that wonderful lighting, or on your chosen composition. The misty look of the sand/dust being blown around the camels’ feet, and the clouds that look as though they are about to wrap up the whole picture and conceal it from us, make this an exciting and powerful theatrical scene. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I congratulate you on this work and on all the awards it has deservedly won.

Although I did leave a comment – I had to come back here – driven by some strange desire to connect with the largeness and vastness of the image!

The characterized clouds on the horizon are magnificent as they swoop down to meet the soft folds of the desert….... a marriage of sorts!
