This is a moonlight shot taken at 1am in the morning on a 30 sec exposure. The tree has been lightly painted with torch light just to bring out its shape without detracting from the beauty of the stars all around……….it was a timeless moment in which the whole universe was pulsating ….such moments are almost impossible to catch on camera let alone put into words…..Canon 1DS Mark 3 30sec exposure, 16-35mm wide angle lens.
How clever!!!!! I’ve seen long exposure shots like this, with the stars featuring too, but have never tried it. You’ve done so well with this one. It’s just fabulous!!
Thank you Magee, it was quite a challenge convincing my 13 year old daughter to wake up out of her camping slumber and help me carry the camera gear up the sand hill…….but it was well worth the effort. Thank you again for your continued feedback and support. Al
Superb work….Great looking tree and the stars have come up well…
John thank you again for your continued support and feedback . This is one of my favorite captures this year simply because it was and is always a magical time being in the presence of such an amazing tree and setting. I recently found out that this is one of the few trees that show up on the satellite of Google Earth. I also found out that many people ask for their ashes to be scattered below this tree when they have passed on…………Best Wishes Al
Am in love with this one. And I have to try light painting one of these days! Lately, I have seen so many gorgeous photos using this technique..just never got around trying it. This result is stunning!
