Banff, Alberta, Canada. 6am on the Bow River. I was waiting to join my coach trip when we were told there was a problem with the coach. So while I was waiting I wandered down to the river. No tripod, so I steadied myself against a tree.
Hi Mark , I think your right it seems to draw you into the scene better! Both lovely shots , but I have to agree this is my fav of the two! Regards Tina
Thanks Tina, maybe I should resubmit this to a few groups

Oops, I meant submit it to groups that I have joined since this image was first posted when I first joined RB (and was only a member of a few groups).
Me too,, the whole image is stunning! And you call yourself an amateur!!! Hah!! ;))
While I am an amateur, I know what I wanted to get across. So I have placed lines from 3 corners that takes the eye into the image. I do this through the viewfinder and lens, using the zoom at the time, not cropping later on a computer. It takes a while to learn this approach, but once you have it, it becomes second nature.
I agree with you Mark, the contrasting splash of blue and their nice contours add a great point of interest to the lovely sharp glassy surface beyond. Bron
Thank you. in the full res version you can clearly see the flag on the hotel in the distance!

Unbelievably calm and beautiful, would love to visit Canada sometime too
Many folk have told me to take out the canoes. But for me they are the best bit. Canada is a photographers paradise.
