Shadow Recovery

Many photographers shoot in raw, in order to get the best from their images. But just because your software allows you to recover loads of info from the shadows doesn’t mean you should. Sometimes leaving the shadows dark, or even making them darker can be a better approach.

If you look at the work of famous landscape photographers, like Joe Cornish, you will see that they like to leave their shadows dark, sometimes almost black.

For mono work, I feel this is most important.

Thank you Mark!—-I use A Konica-KD-400Z-COMPACT-—and am very amateur at Photography but love being involved with RED BUBBLE and all the wonderful people I “meet”through the interaction herein-and I unintentionally have dark shots-—and those would have to be viewed in larger format ,to look any way good-Thanks again Mark—now i feel better!
