My lovely new girls. Have had them about 2 weeks. I took a pillow outside and lay under a tree with them this afternoon. I played ‘Killing me softly’ by Roberta Flack to them (maybe not the most fitting song to sing to a chicken) but I wanted a lovely soft song for them to listen to, and I didn’t think they’d like Primus lol. They just stood there and listened for the whole song and didn’t cluck or anything. Amazing!
There is something very beautiful and humbling about gaining an animal’s trust. :)

Obsessed with riding the learning curve.
Having a blast.
Thanks for stopping by.

A beautiful capture, Maree – great choice of sepia rather than colour. They must be staring at you and thinking: “At last! Someone down at our level and not hitting us with a cold chisel or zapping us with ac-dc!” Your reward will be delicious, healthy brown eggs! Enjoy them! :)george

  • hahahahah thanks George. You made me laugh out loud :)))
I can’t wait for the first eggs from them. I haven’t had chooks for quite a long time and I think the first eggs are very special :)

Amazing contrasts, I would not have thought of a B&W for an image like this but it works well.

What a charming image and story! Love the vintage appearance and sepia tones! They do have a look of thoughtful interest in their eyes.
