Let me introduce you to our dogs. PLEASE VIEW LARGE.
Pearl ~ short-haired border collie, very smart, very loyal, aloof to non-family members, a great share the bed dog. She adores me utterly and I her.
Fella ~ border collie/kelpie cross. Very loveable. Licks shadows, knees, furniture, everything that moves and everything that doesn’t. Sweet natured. Very acute vision. Watches tv. Love him to death.
Holly ~ long-haired tricolour border collie. Mad as a cut snake. Picture perfect dog but sounds like a hound from hell when Pearl scares her. Which is often. Amazing sense of smell. Should have been a bloodhound. Loves people, hates Pearl. The best car dog. The other two I try to avoid taking on a car trip because they turn into complete lunatics. The opposite happens with Holly… she reverts from being a lunatic into a model of composure. She’s our baby. Will be six on Christmas Eve, that’s why she’s called Holly.
When we play ball, as we are when I took this pic, something strange happens.
Holly who has no interest whatsoever in the ball, loses her fear of Pearl and will spend the entire time following her. Her eyes never waver from Pearl. Sticks to her like glue.
They are in such harmony when playing… very intense dogs… they forget everything else.
Border collies tend to be a bit crazy because they think way too much :)
“If there are no dogs in Heaven,
then when I die I want to go
where they went.”
Will Rogers, 1897-1935
