The warble of the Australian magpie is one of my favourite sounds.
It transports me back to childhood and waking up early at my grandparents’ home to the beautiful joyous caroling of the local maggies.
On the other hand, during their mating season, I didn’t really embrace the necessity of having to don an empty plastic ice-cream container on my head just to get to the milk bar to spend the 10 cents my pa would give me for lollies.
This was taken on my fence at Romsey, Vic, Aus.
