This beautiful sculpture is called “Asleep” and was created by artist Peter Shipperheyn for the grave site of his friend Laurence Matheson. The sculpture was done upon request of Mr. Matheson’s widow, as a symbol of her undying love for her late husband. (sangbleu.com)
it is beautiful Maree – perhaps more so than the one you posted earlier.
Thanks Geoff. I think I like the other one a little more but what I love about this one is you can see the ‘scratch marks’ from her fingers at the top… I imagine it was done in the throes of passion before she fell asleep :)
wow, this seems closer up and ever more so beautiful, if that is possible. amazing the things love can do. the most extraordinary grave sculpture I have ever seen. xoxoxoxxoxoxoxxo
Yes it is Shar. It quietens the soul standing before it, pondering on the love and the lives.

Phew! What a tribute!. Wonderful capture, Maree – thanks for bringing it to us. I must visit when next in the area.
Thanks Rhoufi. It does have an impact… and more so I think because of the simple rural setting.
