Maree Cardinale

Romsey, AUSTRALIA

Hello and thanks for visiting.

I have delved in the arts and crafts all my life… glass art, painting, papier mache, mosaics and many other fun things.
Writing… that’s just in my fabric. :)

My love for photography has taken over and is all encompassing.

I am a relative newcomer to the world of photography and am having a blast living and breathing this wonderful craft.

I hope you enjoy my offerings.

My street photography
I love street and candid photography. Capturing a moment in time with the subject unaware. A split second of the truth that existed for the then and there.
I do not like to display images that the subject may be embarrassed of. I ask myself… how would I feel if this were me and someone was showing the world?
There are enough interesting snippets of life to enjoy without resorting to cheap laughs at the expense of another human being.
Equally, I wont take and share images of the homeless. GENERALLY (not always) I find such shots exploitative UNLESS the photographer is actually helping to ease the plight of these vulnerable people in a real and tangible way. It is not enough to take a pic… have people go awwwwww what a sad/powerful image… and that is that. Who has that helped? No-one… just the photographer and his/her ego.
I know there are people who would not agree, and would argue that sharing such images is raising awareness… but this is my opinion and I am not looking for an argument.
Street photography is exhilarating and very satisfying. I love looking at old street images from decades ago… and I hope that in decades to come there will be people who will enjoy some of mine.

advice please
Hi, I am wondering what other people would do in this situation? / I received the following message recently. / Whilst it’s a bit flattering at the same time I’m thinking… why would he need a high res copy and wouldn’t I be an idiot to give anyone a high res copy of any of my images… and also shouldn’t he really just be asking for permission to paint the image.…
