Loss of a Muse...
DixS.O.N. was a rescue dog.She was found just wandering the frozen fields in the middle of winter. A long hair shepard, sway back, and missing teeth. My husband and I were the 3rd home (that we know of that she lived in.) She was 2 1/2 years when we got her, and 7 years when we lost her. What a rich full 4 1/2 years we spent in her presence, a whole lifetime in our hearts. She died 3 months ago, and I my heart still breaks, but as the poem says she was worth the pieces….
DixS.O.N.(seven of Nine) was one of my best friends and the consummate muse. My husband and I had to put her down today. It is a void I can not soon fill. I wrote this poem about his relationship with her. Rest in peace Princess…
ODE to DIX
She was only seven of nine,
But to his heart the first.
His Princess , the ever safe harbor
To his longing heart.
Her hair, long, cascades of silk
Newly spun.
It blew wildly as she ran,
Finding rest as it draped over her
Carmel eyes, concealing a tiny spark
Of mischief.
Now as her stillness settled over him he
Mused
Even now He loved her, of this, he was as certain
As puzzled.
She had torn his heart, broken and beyond
amends
yet with sorrow and sigh
he knew she had been worthy of the
pieces…

This is awesome, and I’m so sad you lost her. She’s beautiful, too.
I’d like to suggest that you put her pic into the following two Groups:
Our K9 Friend.
Man’s Best Friend.
There are other groups for dogs, but I don’t have them on this computer.
Best to you- Dayonda

Beautifully written and photographed. i admit I’m sitting here with tears rolling. I have been where you were… and as i think of my 16 year old Jack at my feet…you bring some comfort toward the inevitable. Thanks, Alma.

Thank you so much. I think all that our pets ever ask of us, is that we love them every moment that they are on earth…that is the easy part. Thank you for your kind note.

A beautifull Ode to Dix!
We are dog lovers, they are a part of our family,as much as our kids.
We lived with manny, from cradle ‘till end,for the last 33 years…and always will.
we know!
