When we moved to our present address our neighbour from our last house gave us a beautiful climbing rose, the same as the one over her door. Life has not been kind to the roses this year in England. It is given with one hand, they have enjoyed the rain for growth, but, the ferocity of the rain storms has bashed them and made the clusters of blooms so heavy that they have difficulty in holding up their heads. This image reflects my dream of warm summer evenings in my garden scented with roses and honeysuckle, which in this wettest year on record have been few and far between.

Taken with Nikon D5000 18-200lens and processes in CS3, Topaz and onOne.

I am 71 years young, and getting younger thanks to the new skills I am learning from the wonderful red bubble community. I came here as a competent photographer, no more, and discovered all the joys of manipulation. I now work for hours creating unique images from my photographs and then submit them for the never failing kind comments from the wonderful friends I have met on red bubble.

I can snensel the sweet smell of a beautiful summer’s evening, a lovely reminder of what summer can be like. Lovely image.

  • Oh dear Sue what a dismal summer we are having. Yesterday was a nice day so I made the most of it and captures some flower pictures whilst I was able. Thank you so much for the lovely comment and the fave Sue, much appreciated. Alma xx

Simply gorgeous dear Alma……my mother-in-law has a climbing rose just like this, forms a beautiful archway accross her garden path:-))

  • Thank you so much for this most lovely comment Lynda. My friend’s house was opposite to ours and I used to admire them each summer as they framed her porch, now they are a lovely reminder of our friendship as neighbours. Thank you too for the fave, you are very kind and supportive. Alma xx

The feeling of the roses, holding their heads high…

  • What a wonderful start to the day, thank you so very much and even as I write I can see the roses through my window recovering from yesterday’s battering. Alma
