Golden Dragonfly ~ Life and Death by

Golden Orb Web Spider ~ And ~ Unfortunately baby dragonflies caught in her web.

This photo is a true close up: Only inches away from the spider, with the wind often blowing it even closer towards me.

    wonderful caspture !LIz

  • Really pleased you liked this capture. Because I saw this spider from the top ~ I didn’t recognize it as being a Golden Orbit Web Spider at first. And I was just intrigued by the bright yellow ball in the midst of the wild grasses.

    gorgeous, congrats on the feature!

  • Thanks so much Sandra ~ The nymphs were so small that I initially thought they were very tiny seeds from the grasses. I was in both awe and horror when I realized they were nymphs ~ Baby dragonflies.

Thanks so much for featuring ‘Golden Dragonfly ~ Life and Death’ in Special Moments.

It was indeed a very special moment as the wind was blowing the Golden Orb so close to the lens of my camera ~ And my face.

But I think the really special moment was that split second when I realized that the ‘tiny seeds’ caught in the web were actually baby dragonflies.

Being captivated by the beauty of the Golden Dragonflies all through our summer ~ And then to see the demise of these baby dragonflies ~ Reminds one that beauty and life are so fleeting and so special.
