On patrol with Northumbria Police.
A painting created as a retirement gift for a serving Northumbrian Police Officer.
Painted about 1995 this work started like all other ideas, what other direction can I take my art into, shortly after this initial idea I was busy writing down idea’s, motor bike art has been around for quite some time, I wanted a slightly different angle and spin, I decided Police bike.
Emergency services have been in my blood for a long time, I will probably paint a Police car or Police helicopter, maybe a medic theme, HEMS, Helicopter Emergency Medical service or maybe it will be another fire scene.
Art is a wonderful thought provoking philosophy you just do not know where ideas will take you.
Canvas shows a Police Officer riding his motor bike, it started as a plain static composition of a Police bike, however when I started out I could feel this work would take me into other directions. As you see I painted the Policeman, then I painted in the background.
Look at the headlight, this was difficult, I worked on this detail over and over again until I was pleased with the finished outcome, hours patiently spent with a very small brush defining the reflector.
Cast your eye to the front wheel, its going round the photograph I took showed a bike on its stand. Artistic impression runs riot in this picture.
He is a British Policeman, so why is he riding on the wrong side of the road; well it could be a single lane carriageway? but I deliberately painted the bike in this position.
I do like to play around with the composition and perspective in my art; I do hope you like my description. Can you see something else? please email and tell me what you see.
