Casper the wire haired Dachshund, Original Oil on canvas painting
Casper is Digby’s cousin at least in the dog world; they lived in the same home in Darlington County Durham.
Working in my preferred artistic style I gathered a number of photographs together featuring Casper, some I had actually taken when these friends, came to visit.
Knowing Casper for some time I was able to work from memory as well as from life to create the outline for the work of art.
Painting is an oil of canvas production, using my faithful Daler pencil and an image in my minds eye I set about the project.
If you take your time to study the portrait you will see the fine detail in my work, may I turn your attention to the Fine detail in his beard his eyes and nose, yes his nose is painted to look wet as all healthy dogs have a wet nose.
Casper has the conventional doleful look of a dachshund which is a characteristic of this particular breed.
Lynn my partner of many years a and a dog lover herself said that the portrait is so realistic, you would think he was going to turn around and give you a big lick which is another well known characteristic of the Dachshund breed, they are very loving friendly and playful little dogs, which make them an ideal companion.
