Tonight was the Annual Awards night at my local camera club, and the first that I’ve entered since becoming a member. So I sat down and took a look at the images that I have entered over the competition year to find at least one entry to submit, if only for the experience. So after much pondering, I decided to go with the one image that seemed to have done well for me, and that is my image called “Tired”. This has to be my favorite image, and one of my most popular on my redbubble profile, just type in CFA and you’ll find it in the first search screen! So I filled out the entry form, not really expecting to get a placing or an award, as I was up against the best of the Club’s best, and there is some very amazing work at our club. So I watched as each maker had their own title screen and then their images (or image in my case!) was shown, and then up came the title page Award Winners. The first six images were for the best digital portfolio of the year, and I watched in appreciation of the artist (Hans Kawitzki) when suddenly up came my image. My first reaction was that it was a mistake, and I was waiting for the club secretary to apologize, when suddenly he said that this was the People Picture of the Year image! To say I was stunned was an understatement! I could have been knocked over with a feather! To win an award first time out was mind blowing, but to also now be on a perpetual trophy was also a shock, I’ve never had my name on something like that before! I was on cloud nine! I’m still completely amazed! Yet again this image has risen to the occasion for me! This image is now very much pride of place in our lounge room!
