Well it’s that time again, when I go gaga for a week over just about everything that’s crossing the skies over Geelong and I spend my time on the ground with my neck and head craned back! Yes the Avalon International Airshow was on again! From the Military might and muscle to the stately passage of the old veterans, I’m in aircraft heaven. This year I couldn’t get into the show itself, so I headed out to the cheap seats. This was the first year that I’ve had my 50D, and the frame rate was an absolute blessing! It meant I could catch just about anything! The only area I was let down was with my lens, a 300mm kit lens from my old Canon 400D. Next airshow I plan to correct that, my sights are on a Sigma 150-500 with optical stabilization………..anyway, here’s what I got this year!

Wow Allen, was going to try and pick a favourite but not possible here. Great collection, well done.

Thanks Paul. I was not completely happy with a few of them, the lens I was using was only a kit lens, and at 300mm was straining to get to grips with some shots. I think my own favorites is the Hornet shots and the underneath profile of the Kittyhawk. Some of your work I thought was brilliant!

Allen you and your kit lens have done a brilliant job well done a great collection!
AllenGray:
Thanks Al. I’m reasonably happy with the results, as most of my images were cropped down, which resulted in a few being just a little too grainy for my liking. I pretty much put my little 300mm kit lens through its maximum paces!
Woodie
It looks like you had fun that day.
some great shots
Cheers Neil

I had fun over two days Neil! This is the only major international airshow in my part of the world, and its only every two years, so I do tend to go a little nuts for the week or so!
