Lightning

Posted 2 months ago

Well a series of storms rumbled their way across the Geelong region last weekend, and so I ventured out to try and do something that I’ve wanted to do for years, capture a lighting strike image. But no matter how I tried, I couldn’t achieve it. So now I’m trying to work out what I did wrong, and what I need to do to capture a lighting image. I think my first problem was my location, up in Lovel…

Boats that float!

Posted 2 months ago

Another weekend and I find myself out shooting more boats, except this time they all float, none sank, and I didn’t have to wait six hours! No, today I wondered down to the banks of the Barwon River this afternoon for a few hours for the 2009 Alcoa Head of the Barwon, and well, this was the result!

Operation: Canberra Scuttlling

Posted 3 months ago

Well the day had finally arrived, the day when the ex-HMAS Canberra would be sent to the bottom of Bass Strait. This day had been long in coming, three years to be exact, and to say that I was excited was to say the least. This has been a project, that in the last six months had been just out of reach, just waiting, with its own trials and challenges, and now that it’s over, I feel that there i…

I've been made a Avatar!

Posted 3 months ago

Well, yet again I find myself reaching a new milestone. I had entered an image in a challange in the All About Fire” group on Redbubble, and I was the winner of the challange, with the result of my image being used as the Group’s Avatar! This was a unexpected and delighted surprise! I have been quite proud of this image, and now it seems that it has reache…

Look! I just made a whole $1.40!

Posted 5 months ago

Well I’ve just made my second and third sales on Redbubble, and yep, it was for a whole $1.40! Add that to my $27 from the framed print and I’m on my way!! I’m not sure who brought the two greeting cards, both from the Throng outing to the Rams game, but thank you! But the point is, I’ve made three sales this year! WooHoo!! I’m actually pretty excited about that!! Here’s hoping that there’s mor…

My God! It's a SALE!

Posted 6 months ago

It’s finally happened! It’s actually finally happened! I’d had just gotten home from taking my seven year old to see Ice Age 3 (Very funny!) and I’d thought I’d just quickly check the emails. And there it was. At first I thought it was just the usual Redbubble monthly update, you’ve added this piece, someone made that comment, then I took a closer look. It took a good five seconds for it to fin…

Rough draft

Posted 6 months ago

This may sound strange, but as I sit here, I’m finding it difficult to find the right words. You see, up until now, I’ve been using Redbubble like the majority of the members of the site, for photography, and now I am venturing in waters uncharted. For a while now, years infact if I’m to be honest, I have been writing a story. This story had the most humble of beginnings, in a dorm room at a Un…

Mental Development

Posted 7 months ago

I have often been told, usually by my fellow work colleagues that I seem to have a gift for writing. Ok, so it’s only applications for various job positions at work, yet everyone seems to comment on my ability to string together a few sentence, weave these in paragraphs and then mould this into something presentable for Management. Each time I do this, I often get the same response, that I seem…

Surprise Email

Posted 7 months ago

Ealier this week I arrived home after yet another trying day at work, and all I had in mind was my chair, the TV, and just relaxing. Or so I thought. I found myself suddenly being propelled into a mood of excitment by just one simple sentence from my wife: “Did you see the email from John?” Email? John? I racked my brains. What email I ask her, and her reply was “about the Canberra.” Excitment …

Refused Entry!!

Posted 9 months ago

WHAT IS THE WORLD COMMING TO?? This was my one pervading thought last Saturday morning as I stood at the bag check to the Australian Grand Prix. We had just arrived, my friend Ben and I, looking forward to a day’s shooting. I had only not long arrived in Melbourne, having met Ben at Southern Cross Station, and sorting out our priorities first, went for coffee! From there, a quick …
