Hello,Old Friend by

Hello, old friend…
I’ve been working on this for weeks using a number of mediums.
The concept came from an intense moment when I found myself alone with a piano. I used to love to play the piano but haven’t for years….just one of those pleasures in life that just seem to get lost along the road.

It was an extraordinary feeling, a little surreal and bittersweet to once again to run my fingers over the keys and gently coax a melody from the past.

A friend quietly walked in and later said it was like meeting an old lover….he was right;)

this is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had the same experience a while back … and I swear to you, I too said “Hello, old friend.” When I saw this image come up on my feed, my fingers nearly fell over themselves to get to it and view in full size. Shanina .. I fell like I’ve just had a psychic experience … what a moment .. what an exquisite image. I LOVE your choice of the black and white tiles and that amazing stairway and the pillars … even the trees in the background remind me of Rome … < lois takes a deep breath and tries to calm herself > … And oooooo that glorious piano!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol! Calm down Lois….:)
It is a surreal feeling isn’t it…and a shame some of our greatest loves somehow get lost in the past. I made a pact with myself to get a piano this year and start playing again, hope you do too:)xox

Outstanding! This definitely conveys the feeling you wanted to achieve, I too use to play the piano and you’ve described it perfectly, now I wish I still had a piano!

Really beautiful ,what a shame you can’t find the time to play. It is one regret in my life that I gave up my lessons when I was a child because my music teacher was an ogre and frightened me to death , if only my mother had found me another teacher , still no good crying over spilt milk .
You must play again . or you will regret you have let it pass . xxx

  • hehhe…my father had to bribe me with a block of chocolate after every lesson;)
You should get a keyboard and play around it won’t take you long to pick it up and you’ll have so much fun during the process. :) xoxo

I very much know the feeling…..I didn’t have a piano for some time and used to write and play a lot on one. Then I taught myself guitar and fell in love with it so much and found it much easier to write with. Then I beautiful and generous lady GAVE me her near new electric piano…..I loved it but still didn’t play it nearly as much as I could have….then I used it to pay off studio time for my last demo which was WELL worth the sacrifice!

What you have painted here is so intense, romantic, sensitive, touching. I FEEL it in my heart too. My love to you Shanina!

  • Hi Tahnja:) I’m so glad it struck a chord with you…I’m going to look around for an old upright..just something about the feel;) Happy New hon, I hope it’s fantastic for you xox
